According to, Macedonia called an international tender to award a design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) concession on 44 small hydropower plants, the Economy Ministry said.

The power plants, to be located on the rivers Vardar, Strumica and Crn Drim, will have an installed capacity of between 64 kilowatts (kW) and 3,200 kW each, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Friday.
Interested bidders can bid for more than one site. The deadline for submitting bids expires on May 30. The bids will be opened on following day.
The concessions will be awarded as part of the government’s plans to increase domestic hydropower generation. The government plans to build a total of 400 small hydropower plants, an investment worth an estimated 300 million euro ($413 million), the Economy Ministry said earlier.
